About HFA
HFA is a long-established UK certifier covering meat, poultry, food products and restaurants. It accepts some forms of stunning that it considers reversible, on the basis that the animal is still alive when slaughtered. Because of this difference with HMC, some UK Muslims prefer one certifier over the other — see our HMC vs HFA guide.
How to check a certificate
- Look for the logo on the pack or a certificate displayed in the restaurant, with an expiry date.
- Search the business or product on HFA's official website.
- Be wary of logos that look similar but are not the official mark.
