More about krill oil
Krill oil is extracted from small shrimp-like animals called krill. It is sold as an omega-3 supplement.
Most scholars treat it as halal, but the Hanafi school does not allow non-fish seafood. Check the capsule shell too, as it can be gelatine.
Is krill oil vegetarian or vegan?
No. Krill oil comes from animals, so it is not vegetarian or vegan.
Why we classify it this way
Halal Krill oil comes from krill, a crustacean. Scholars differ on seafood other than fish: the Hanafi school does not allow it, which is why the Hanafi setting marks it as doubtful. Check the capsule shell too.
Basis: No concern found. Made from plants, minerals, fermentation or synthesis, or from a permitted animal product. Nothing in normal production raises a pork, alcohol, insect or slaughter question.
In the Hanafi setting this is shown as Doubtful (Mushbooh).
