What the tests found
In 2019 Brunei's Ministry of Religious Affairs said lab tests on White Rabbit creamy candy found porcine (pig) content, and shops there removed it from halal shelves. Reports from Malaysia said tests found pork and beef protein. The likely source is gelatine.
What to check
- "Gelatine" in the ingredients with no source.
- A halal logo from a recognised certifier. Standard White Rabbit packs do not carry one.
Milk sweets without gelatine and with a halal logo are a safer alternative. See halal sweets.
