Are Eyelash Extensions Halal?

Quick answer Scholars differ

Scholars differ. Many say eyelash extensions are like hair extensions, which a hadith forbids, especially if made from human hair. Some allow synthetic lashes worn for a husband. There is also a wudu question, as glued lashes can stop water reaching the lash line.

Also asked as: “Are false eyelashes haram?” · “Can I do wudu with lash extensions?”

The hair extension hadith

The Prophet ﷺ cursed the woman who adds hair to her hair (Bukhari, Muslim). Many scholars apply this to lashes, particularly human or mink hair.

The more lenient view

Some scholars permit synthetic lashes that are clearly not hair, worn for one's husband, and removable false lashes worn temporarily.

Wudu

Semi-permanent glue can block water. Strip lashes can be removed before wudu.
