Are Piercings Halal?

Quick answer It depends

Ear piercing for women is permitted by all schools; it was known at the time of the Prophet ﷺ. Nose piercing for women is permitted by most scholars where it is a normal form of adornment. Piercings for men, and body piercings beyond the ears and nose, are discouraged or prohibited by most scholars because they imitate the opposite sex or cause harm.
