What we found about Pepsi and halal

PepsiCo's UK website answers questions about its drinks on a single FAQ page, which we read on 3 November 2026. It says the entire Pepsi range is suitable for vegetarians and that regular Pepsi and Pepsi Max are also suitable for vegans. It also says the Pepsi range are non-alcoholic soft drinks and that no alcohol is added to them.

On halal, the same page says the company does not manufacture products specifically for such diets and that its drinks do not hold a recognised certification of conformity. So there is no halal certificate to rely on, and any website that calls Pepsi halal is giving its own reading of the ingredients. The page does not say who bottles Pepsi in the UK or discuss animal-derived ingredients.

The Pepsi products in our database list caramel colour (E150d), sweeteners, phosphoric acid and flavourings, and none of these is a flagged animal-derived ingredient. The main thing a reader may want to ask the company is the source of the unspecified flavourings, which the label does not give.

Why products are flagged

These are the ingredients behind the Doubtful and Haram results for Pepsi. Doubtful means the label does not say enough, not that the product contains anything prohibited.

Is Pepsi vegetarian or vegan?

Of the 2 Pepsi products we checked: 2 with no vegetarian label and no meat or gelatine listed. Whether a product is vegetarian depends on the product, so check the pack for a vegetarian or vegan label.
