Who writes this site
Halal Check Online is published by Hafiz Nasir Mehmood. He is a Quran Hafiz and an Islamic researcher. He writes the articles and answers, and reviews the food, ingredient and E-number information on the site.
Halal Check Online is a research and information service. We do not issue fatwas. Where a question needs a ruling for your own situation, we say so and point you to a qualified scholar you trust.
How every article is written and checked
- Research first. Each article is researched and studied before it is published.
- Cross-checking. Where sources exist, claims are checked against them: manufacturer information, food-science references, certification bodies and published scholarly opinion. Each ingredient page links the references it relies on, and says when it has none.
- Review. The author reviews the final text before publication.
- Dating. Each page shows the date it was last reviewed. A date is only shown once a real review has taken place.
Our methodology explains how we classify ingredients, and how we handle questions where scholars differ.
How corrections are handled
- A query is raised, by a reader, a manufacturer or our own checks. You can send a correction.
- The author reviews the query and checks it against the sources again.
- The correction is made, and the change is verified before the page is republished.
- The page's review date is updated to the date of the correction.
What we do not claim
- We are not a certification body. Halal certification is the job of a recognised certifier, and our checks cannot replace it for meat or ready meals.
- Product information comes from the product's published ingredient list and from Open Food Facts. Recipes change, so the pack you buy is the final word.
